Why You’re Single – and Why It’s Not Your Fault

It’s that time of year again, where you’re forced to reflect on your single relationship status and, to a degree, be made to feel guilty about it. But you shouldn’t, you’re amazing, and sometimes these things just can’t be helped.

1. You love your independence

Of course it is possible to have a relationship and maintain your independence; but all partnerships require some level of compromise. If you’re not looking to have lengthy arguments over where to go for dinner or having to explain that you need alone time, it may be your desire for full independence in your decision-making that is holding you back from entering a relationship.

2. You are still figuring yourself out

Whether you’re going through a huge life change, or simply taking the time to figure out what life changes you want to make, dedicating emotional energy to personal growth and reflection is always important. However, it does command your full attention. While you should take all the time in the world to focus on your goals, passions and dedications, it may be that you are single because you simply do not have the emotional capacity to let someone in while you are putting so much into working on yourself.

3. Commitment is hard to come by

Recently dating culture has made a huge shift from serious commitment to one night stands. While hooking up is awesome, it is exceedingly difficult to find something serious when the current dating climate is so anti-settling down. In this particular case, your relationship status is completely out of your control.

4. You’re too busy

Trying to build your career? Swamped with study? Friends require your full attention? It sounds cliche, but sometimes we are just too busy. Relationships take time, and work, and you’re schedule is pretty damn packed already.

Luckily, we have the solution to these problems. Matchmaking takes all these factors into account to find you a relationship that compliments your lifestyle. Sign up now to change that relationship status just in time for Valentine’s Day!
