They play star-crossed lovers locked in an unconventional romance.

And after filming numerous love scenes for Fifty Shades Of Grey Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have certainly grown comfortable with each other.

The duo cuddled up to one another as they walked arm-in-arm down the red carpet at a New York fan screening of their highly anticipated erotic film on Thursday night.

The 25-year-old actress sported a white angora sweater with a leather skirt as she wore her hair in a sexy tangle over her shoulders.

But her co-star, 32, was equally striking in a crisp black suit with an open collared white shirt as he donned brown wingtips.

And fans will soon be able to see the two immerse themselves in a BDSM romance as the film is set to hit US theatres on February 13.

The film is based on the very popular 2011 erotic novel of the same name written by EL James, which is known for its explicit scenes involving bondage, dominance and BDSM.

On Thursday, the best-selling author – real name Erika Mitchell – sat down with Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb and Carson Daly to dish about the overnight success of her erotic book trilogy.

The 51-year-old British writer has sold 100m copies in 52 different languages, holding the title of the number one selling novel for 138 weeks, which equates to two copies sold every second.

Although she did not confess much about the graphic sex scenes, she did coyly admit that the story is based on her life experiences, including the infamous Red Room of Pain.

When asked if she practiced the steamy scenes in her own bedroom, Erika replied with no hesistation: ‘Oh yes!

‘[My husband] used to help me and read through each chapter and then I used to say to him “I just want to try this” and he’d say “Oh what do you want me to do now?”‘

On her inspirations for the series, she shared: ‘It came from lots of places. It came from reading things, it came from my imagination, it came from a little bit of life experience shall we say.’

And for the casting of the movie, she took creative insight from another successful film adaption series: Twilight.

Erika pictured the dynamic between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan as a model for how Christian and Anastasia should appeal on screen.

In addition, she helped Carson release a new teaser of the upcoming film showing Christian showing the Red Room to Anastasia for the first time.

Fifty Shades Of Grey will be released on February 13 in the States.
