Alanis Morissette’s Marriage Has Evolved In The Past 20 Years!

sssss

Twenty years later, she’s still angry — but honest! Jagged Little Pill hitmaker Alanis Morissette opened up to Us Weekly and other reporters about celebrating the 20th anniversary of her mega-Platinum Grammy-winning album, and how her five-year marriage to Mario Treadway has evolved.

“I love it,” Morissette, 40, told Us at the Elle Women in Music Awards in Hollywood on Wednesday, May 20. “I thank sweet baby Jesus that I can actually perform these songs. There’s timelessness to it for me that I can actually stand by these lyrics still. Thank God, because otherwise I probably wouldn’t want to.”

While Morissette’s life has changed drastically since Jagged Little Pill made her a global superstar in June 1995, she told Us that the raw emotion of anger has remained constant over the last two decades. “If you ask any married woman, she’s still angry,” she joked with a laugh.

The Canadian rocker also shared her favorite memory from making the album. “I just remember before I met Guy Oseary at Maverick, I was writing ‘All I Really Want’ in my sweatpants,” she told Us. “And they said, ‘You need to go over and meet everybody at Madonna’s label.’ I said, ‘I’m in my f—ing sweatpants!’ And they said, ‘Well you’ve got to go now.’ So my first meeting with that whole team was me in my sweatpants. It was horrifying. Thankfully they loved the music.”

In 2010, the “You Oughta Know” hitmaker married Mario “MC Souleye” Treadway. Months later, the couple welcomed their son Ever, and Morissette updated Us about her little one on Wednesday.

“He’s 4. He’s amazing,” she gushed. “He’s just coming into his own. We’re having real bona fide philosophical conversations. About anything — about aliens, about the galaxy, about what God is, about animals. You just cross your fingers behind your back and you hope you don’t blow it.”

The proud mom said her son could be the next great hitmaker in the family. “He’s already writing,” Morissette told Us, adding that her tot loves her track “Guardian” because the tune is about him. “He’s got great impeccable timing. We are not pushing it on him, but he is just around it so much.” Hopefully, he’ll be able to share his writing with a sibling. “That would be awesome,” Morissette noted of having more kids. “God willing.”

But first, her marriage. “We’re helping each other out,” Morissette said Wednesday. “I think relationships go from infatuation to power struggle and then most people break up. I think it’s getting juicy as we’re going on the third phase of helping each other heal and grow.”

To keep the romance alive, Morissette and the DJ engage in plenty of good, old-fashioned flirting. “Flirting is nice. Dates, gifts, compliments,” she trailed. “Anytime he says anything about me emotionally like, ‘Wow. You’re really nurturing or really patient.’ That’s like full-blown sexy time for me.”
